What we believe
We serve Christians from many churches and traditions. Here is what we hold in common, and what we will not compromise.
- ScriptureThe Bible is the inspired, inerrant Word of God. It is our final authority, and it is sufficient for life and godliness (2 Timothy 3:16–17; 2 Peter 1:3).
- The Triune GodThere is one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- Jesus ChristJesus is fully God and fully man. He lived a sinless life, died in the place of sinners, rose bodily from the dead, ascended to the Father, and will return in glory.
- Humanity and sinGod made us in his image, male and female. All have sinned, and sin reaches to the heart, shaping what we love, fear, and worship.
- SalvationWe are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, not by our own effort.
- ChangeThe Holy Spirit transforms God's people through ordinary means: the Word, prayer, the sacraments, and the fellowship of the church.
- Marriage and sexualityGod created humanity male and female. Marriage is a covenant between one man and one woman, and sexual intimacy belongs within marriage. We gladly counsel anyone who wants help, and we counsel according to these convictions.
- AccountabilityYCBC is a ministry of Saint Andrew's Presbyterian Church (PCA), and our counseling is overseen by its elders.
